Blend measured peanut butter into stew after the sweet potato softens
Use peanut butter as the measured thickening ingredient in the sweet potato and bean stew. Loosen it with some hot stew before returning it to the pot, then judge the finished sauce without changing the whole jar balance.
Measure the part you can use
Weigh plain peanut butter directly from the product you will use, before adding stew liquid. One two-serving stew needs 50g. A 35g supply leaves a 15g gap; an example 340g jar covers it and leaves 325g of new peanut butter unassigned. Confirm the actual usable package weight. The leftover jar paste is separate from cooked stew, and the worksheet does not infer grams from a heaped spoon or from the weight of a finished sauce.
Choose the texture you want
Cook the vegetables before thickening
Keep the measured peanut butter aside while onion and ginger cook and the sweet potato simmers with tomatoes and recipe water. Follow the full recipe’s 2cm potato cubes and fork-tender check. If liquid evaporates while the potato is firm, use its small hot processing-water adjustment. Adding the nut paste at the beginning would change the written cooking sequence and make the thick sauce harder to manage.
Whisk a smooth portion outside the pot
Once the sweet potato is tender, take a ladle of hot stew into a bowl and whisk the weighed 50g peanut butter into it until smooth. That ladle came from the existing pot; it is not a second recipe-water allowance. Return the mixture with the drained black beans, then keep the recipe’s gentle simmer until the beans steam throughout. Scrape the measured mixture back in so paste left in the bowl is not mistaken for unused jar stock.
Check the bottom before adding spinach
Stir the bottom often during the peanut-thickened stage and loosen with small amounts of processing water if the sauce catches, as the recipe directs. Fold in spinach at its final stage and check that it wilts throughout. If making more servings, scale the beans, vegetables, liquid, paste and seasoning together and divide complete pot loads when required; extra peanut butter alone does not make more complete dinners.
When the result is not quite right
Choose a product whose actual ingredients fit the plain reference recipe. A sweetened spread, powdered peanut product or mixed nut butter is not automatically equivalent to these paste grams. For a thickening sauce, use the recipe’s liquid and stirring corrections before reaching for another large spoonful of paste. Record any genuine ingredient change so the allocation still describes what you intend to cook.
Allocate your plain peanut butter
Choose dinners in the list below. Stock is assigned in that order; any shortfall remains visible. This only totals plain peanut butter, so check every full recipe for its other ingredients and method.
50g needed · 35g from stock · 15g shortfall · 0g unassigned
| Recipe | Need | From stock | Shortfall |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sweet potato and peanut bean stew | 50g | 35g | 15g |

Keep and prepare your stock
Keep unused peanut butter according to its own package instructions, including any after-opening requirement. Prepared stew follows its separate cooling, storage and finishing plan and the shortest applicable ingredient limit. The jar’s date does not describe the usable life of stew that has already been cooked.
Avoid this mix-up
This recipe contains peanuts. Read actual ingredients, allergen declarations and relevant cross-contact information before cooking. When peanuts conflict with the intended exclusions, choose a suitable alternative complete dinner. This worksheet does not validate a replacement paste or certify allergy-safe food.
