Reserve dry sesame seeds for the final salad and slaw stage
Measure finishing seeds before opening the whole packet over dinner. A cold noodle salad receives them after tossing, while chickpea slaw adds them near the vegetables; the tahini in that slaw remains a separate sesame-containing ingredient.
Measure the part you can use
Weigh dry sesame seeds before adding them to dressing, vegetables or noodles. The two-serving soba salad needs 10g and chickpea slaw another 10g: 20g altogether. With 12g available, the second allocation is 8g short. An example 100g packet covers that gap and leaves 92g of new dry seeds unassigned. Check the actual packet quantity and preparation instructions. Seed grams do not measure sesame oil, tahini paste or a mixed seasoning blend.
Choose the texture you want
Finish drained cold noodles with seeds
Keep the salad’s 10g seeds aside while edamame cooks and noodles are boiled, rinsed and thoroughly drained according to the full recipe. Prepare its measured dressing and vegetables before tossing. Sprinkle the seeds over the combined cold salad at the final stage. Seeds do not replace the drainage step; adding more to a wet bowl would change the recipe rather than remove the extra noodle water.
Add slaw seeds near the vegetables
Reserve the other 10g for the chickpea slaw. Mash the specified share of drained chickpeas and make the tahini filling before folding in dry shredded cabbage and grated carrot near dinner. Add this recipe’s measured seeds at that stage, then fill the warmed and briefly cooled tortillas. Drain a vegetable puddle as directed rather than increasing seeds until the mixture appears dry.
Audit seeds and paste as separate products
The slaw contains both 10g sesame seeds and 35g tahini for two servings; its tahini allowance is not part of this seed table. Check both actual products, plus the tortillas and other packaged ingredients. Read the full ingredients and any allergen declaration rather than relying on the recipe title. Removing only the visible seed finish would leave the sesame-containing tahini in the filling.
When the result is not quite right
Portion seeds into a small clean bowl before assembly so an accidental packet spill does not become an unexplained extra allocation. Follow the actual product’s preparation directions; if it requires a step these complete recipes do not provide, choose an appropriate product or a suitable different dinner. The recipes do not ask for an additional seed-toasting stage, and this guide does not introduce one.
Allocate your sesame seeds
Choose dinners in the list below. Stock is assigned in that order; any shortfall remains visible. This only totals sesame seeds, so check every full recipe for its other ingredients and method.
20g needed · 12g from stock · 8g shortfall · 0g unassigned
| Recipe | Need | From stock | Shortfall |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soba and edamame cold salad | 10g | 10g | 0g |
| Sesame chickpea slaw wraps | 10g | 2g | 8g |

Keep and prepare your stock
Keep unused dry seeds in a suitable closed container under the product’s actual storage instructions. Seeds already mixed into a cold salad or filling follow that prepared dish’s refrigeration and ingredient limits. Record the unassigned dry portion separately; a dressed seed mixture is not dry packet stock.
Avoid this mix-up
Sesame seeds remain an allergen ingredient whether they are visible, crushed or mixed into food. Read actual labels and relevant cross-contact information for the household. A sesame exclusion requires checking the whole dinner, including tahini and compound products; this allocation is a quantity record and does not certify allergy-safe food.
Use the storage guide for prepared batches, and follow actual product labels. Our recipe and quantity checks are not a real cooking trial.
